The Hyphae Network is a tax exempt 501(c)3 organization that strives to help members of the pregnancy loss community focus on healing instead of researching. We understand how difficult it is to grieve a child because we, too, have experienced this grief.
The Hyphae Network (THN) was founded by Sheri McClure in 2021, just shy of ten years after her triplets were born too early and died in her arms. Sheri quickly realized that the pain of losing her children was just the beginning. It was a challenge to find resources for things like cremation and mental health, and many people – from medical practitioners to friends and family – simply didn’t know how to respond to her loss. After a few years, Sheri integrated her loss experience and these challenges into her academic research, which eventually led her to develop THN.
But The Hyphae Network is guided by many voices, and most of them have direct experience with the pain of losing a child. Those who have not been touched by this grief are advocates for our community. Together, we are grounded in empathy and guided by honest feedback by loss community members. This guidance has shaped everything you see, from our design and resources to our mission and services.
Our Mission
The Hyphae Network’s mission is to de-stigmatize pregnancy loss, and to provide vetted resources for this loss community that embody empathy and avoid the stigma of blame and guilt.
How We Enact Our Mission
We have developed a three-pronged approach to develop our mission.
DE-STIGMATIZE pregnancy loss by partnering with social media influencers and organizations to increase awareness of miscarriage, stillbirth, and preterm labor loss.
SUPPORT the loss community by providing easy access to information and services that we have vetted for empathy, accuracy, and compassion.
ENACT systemic change by offering training to healthcare professionals, organizations, and individuals about the importance of using empathic practices when working with members of the loss community.
Welcome to Our Community
We at The Hyphae Network are truly sorry for your loss, but we are glad that you have found your way here. We invite you to engage as much or as little as you need, but rest assured that any resource you find here were hand selected for our community members. We hope that you find what you need to grieve and heal in your own way.
